Matt Grose began serving as Superintendent of ISD 318 on July 1, 2020. Matt was selected as Superintendent through a search process that included staff, students, families, and community members.
Prior to coming to ISD 318, Matt served as the Superintendent of Deer River Public Schools for 14 years. And before that, he was a principal at Deer River High School. Matt also taught math and computer science in the Twin Cities area. His Master's Degree in Education is from Saint Mary's University and his Principal and Superintendent certification, as well as a certification in School Technology Leadership, are from the University of Minnesota. He is pursuing his doctorate with interests in resilience, leadership, culture, and change.
Matt has also served as the chair of the Itasca Area Schools Collaborative (IASC), on the Governor's Broadband Task Force, the Blandin Foundation's Broadband Strategy Board, the board of Think Small, the Leech Lake Boys and Girls Club Board, the Itasca Community College Foundation Board and the board of Ready4K, a state-wide early childhood education advocacy group.
