Update April 28, 2021: Student Test Kits Available
With increased spread of COVID-19 among young people, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has now made free saliva testing even easier for middle and high school students. Students can pick up saliva tests every two weeks and drop them off for the school to return. These opportunities are being arranged in conjunction with our regular staff testing. Students should pick up their saliva test on Tuesday at the location listed below and return them to the front office the following Wednesday morning. Student kits will be transmitted with staff kits and results are generally available within 24-48 hours following receipt of the kit. Results are transmitted directly to the family via email.
Schools will not receive test results or health account information directly. Students and/or their parents or legal guardians are strongly encouraged to inform schools of positive results so that the school can take steps to prevent the spread of the virus to other students and staff.
As long as students don't have symptoms and have not been close to someone with COVID-19, they do not need to stay out of school, sports, or activities while awaiting test results. This school testing program is intended to help identify asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 so that we can prevent further spread. If students are experiencing any symptoms, they should stay home, and get a test from one of Minnesota's free community testing sites or through their health care provider.
Students are NOT required to test. Additional information is available by clicking here.
