• The distance learning reset will begin on Monday, November 23 for 7-12 students in Bigfork. K-6 students in Bigfork Elementary will attend school on Monday, November 23 as usual to receive distance learning materials unless otherwise notified. The distance learning period will go through December 6 unless we continue to have large numbers of staff and students who are quarantined or infected.

***Here is some important information from Kimberly Powell, RN, Bigfork School Nurse:

If your child (or any family member,) has been determined to meet MDH close contact tracing criteria, they must quarantine for at least 14 days post-exposure. Quarantine means keeping people who are not sick yet, but who were exposed to a sick person, away from others. Someone can spread COVID-19 before they have symptoms. Quarantine stops them from accidentally spreading the virus to other people. Three very important points:1) Choose one person to care for the person in quarantine, if possible. This person should keep their distance from other people in the house as much as possible, use a face covering, stay 6 feet apart, and wash their hands often. Household members NOT quarantined must mask diligently whenever in public.
    2) The person who is in quarantine should stay away from others. This means staying home, and not participating in activities outside the home, such as going into businesses, restaurants, church, attending activities or gatherings outside of school, etc., for the entire length of quarantine. (This is crucial-there have been multiple concerns/reports that children out of school for quarantine have been seen in public places, and often without masks.)
    3) If at any point during 14 day quarantine ANY symptoms arise, (elevation in temp, cough, breathing difficulty, loss of taste or smell, sore or scratchy throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, nasal congestion or runny nose) it is imperative to seek testing immediately. All household members should then stay home until test result is known. Even if a test is negative, the quarantined person must complete their 14 day exclusion.Thank you for your diligence. Covid19 has become uncontrolled in our community, and you can help us slow unnecessary spread. Bigfork School is working incredibly hard to keep children, families, and staff safe, and we recognize the strain this represents. The Minnesota Dept of Health website ( health.mn.gov ) has excellent information, but please feel free to contact the school with questions at any time- we want to help you through this process, whatever you may need.
