Pesticide Notification

 Pesticide Annual Notification

In accordance with Minnesota state law (effective 2000), schools are required to notify parents, guardians, and employees when certain pesticides are applied on school property.

Independent School District #318 partners with a professional pest control service that follows an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach. This method emphasizes prevention and minimizes pesticide use by prioritizing traps, baits, and other non-chemical strategies. Pesticides are used only as a last resort, and only in areas where pests are found to be active following an inspection.

If a pesticide application is deemed necessary inside a building, parents, guardians, and employees of that specific building will be notified prior to treatment.

Additionally, state law requires us to inform you that the long-term health effects on children from the application of certain pesticides, or from the chemical classes to which they belong, may not be fully understood.
