Community Engagement

For Grand Rapids Area Schools, community engagement is the process by which a school district actively involves district stakeholders—families, staff, students, residents, and local partners—in authentic listening and learning, meaningful dialogue, and input-gathering that helps shape the future of our schools.

Our Desired Outcomes:

  • Build public understanding, confidence, and trust through increased transparency.
  • Provide an opportunity for community voices to be heard.
  • Gain clarity on what matters most.
  • Clarify the level of support for additional local funding vs. sustaining additional budget reductions and program cuts.

Help Shape Grand Rapids Area Schools

We're launching a yearlong journey of conversation and collaboration that puts YOU at the center of our schools' future.

This Is YOUR Invitation to Make a Difference.  Through November 5, we're asking every resident to complete an important community survey. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, business owner, recent graduate, or longtime community member - your perspective matters.

Here's How This Works:

  • NOW through November 5: Take our survey at www.isd318.org/survey. Tell us what information YOU need about our schools.
  • November 10: Results shared with our School Board - your voice influencing leadership.
  • November 17: Results shared with a new Taskforce addressing these challenges.
  • November-June: Monthly community exchanges to dive deeper, answer questions, and develop real solutions.

Why This Matters: This is the foundation of a transparent, collaborative process aligned with our strategic directions. Your feedback will shape how we communicate, address challenges, and build a brighter future for every student.
