I am getting a Quarantine Report in my email, but when I open the mail it is blank. Q. Can I submit a subject for the FAQ's? A: Certainly you can. As a matter of fact, we count on people sending us requests for the information that they want to see and would help them the most. Just send it in an email to trussell@isd318.org. Your request will be reviewed by District Services and if it meets the criteria for inclusion, it will be added to our FAQ's. Back to top Q. My monitor is black. What should I do? A. If there is a yellow light on the front of the monitor, check and make sure that the computer is on. If there is not, check and make sure that the monitor is actually turned on. I know this sounds stupid....but check anyway. If it does not come on, check and make sure that the power cord is plugged into the monitor and the wall. If it still does not come on, put in a tech support request. Back to top Q. My computer is acting strange what should I do? A. The best bet is to try a reboot first. To be sure to have a clean reboot, shut your computer down completely (power off). Leave off for at least 15 seconds and then restart it. This will fix a majority of problems. However, if it still acts up, put in a tech support request. Back to top Q. Are Cookies Dangerous to My Computer? A. NO. A cookie is a simple piece of text. It is not a program, or a plug-in.It cannot be used as a virus, and it cannot access your hard drive. Your browser (not a programmer) can save cookie values to your hard disk if it needs to, but that is the limit of the effect on your system. Back to top Q: Groupwise says it can't find the tcp/ip address. What do I do? A: Due to the upgrade this summer, Groupwise has changed addresses. While every effort was made to make Groupwise update automatically sometimes it won't. In these instances it must be done manually. To do this, double-click on the groupwise icon on your screen. When the login screen comes up make sure 'online' is selected and enter '172.16.61.245' in the address block. In the 'port' block put in one of the following numbers: Admin = 1678, Highschool = 1679, Middleschool = 1680, Elementary's = 1681 and Bigfork = 1682. Then try to log in again. If it still doesn't work, put in a Tech Support Request. Back to top Q. How do I change my Groupwise password? A: First you must log into Groupwise. Then on a PC select the 'Tools' menu at the top of the Groupwise screen, then select 'options' and then 'security'. On a Mac, you must select 'edit', 'preferences' and then 'security'.You must put in your existing password before groupwise will allow you to set a new one. Back to top Q. Can District Services recover my password if I forget it? A: No. District Services has no way of recovering a lost password for either the network or groupwise. If you forget your password you must submit a tech support request and District Services will reset your password and let you know what it is. Then you must change it to something else (and hopefully something easy to remember). Back to top Q. I am getting a Quarantine Report in my email, but when I open the mail it is blank. A: To read the Quarantine Report on a PC, your Groupwise view must be set to 'html'. To do this, just go to the 'view' menu and click on 'html'. To set this permanently, go to 'tools', 'options', 'environment', 'views' and set the default compose view and default read view to html. To read the Quarantine Report on a Mac, you must open the report and drag the 'text.htm' attachment to your desktop. Then it can be opened with Internet Explorer by going to 'file', 'open' and selecting the text.htm file on your desktop. Another option that works for both Mac and PC is to go to Http://www.isd318.org and clicking on the groupwise webaccess button, logging in, and opening the report there. Back to top |
