P.T.C. By-Laws and Constitution are finished and we are working with Broberg & Johnson to obtain Non-profit status to prevent non-compliance fees from the IRS. Thank you to Beth George, Lori-Kangas Olson, PTC boardmembers Paula Dibb, Karen Bissonette, Jessie Karnes, Cindy Iaizzo and Judy Brown for helping Principal Patti Anderson in reviewing/editing/rewriting of the PTC By-Laws and Constitution!
Playground equipment has arrived! THANK YOU to Mr. Jinks for ordering, sorting and distributing this new equipment!
Earth Day is on April 22, 2008. Clarification of budget for Earth Day was discussed. Mrs. Brown made a motion for monies to be allotted to cover the cost of cookies and magazines for students. Motion was seconded, voted on and approved.
Lori Abbott will be helping Diane Opp to prepare for this year’s “Book Exchange” scheduled for April 24th and April 25th. Lori will be taking this over next year. It was suggested to do the “Book Exchange” during the morning time to avoid gym classes. THANK YOU to Diane Opp and Lori Abbott for all your time & effort in preparing and running this educational event for Murphy Students!
The following memo was distributed to all district P.T.C. Boards and Yearbook Committee Members:
“ This notice is to inform all District 318 Elementary building PTC Boards and Yearbook Committees members as well as Enstrom Studio that the annual building year books will no longer include activity pictures from events sponsored by programs outside of the school district.
In reviewing the purpose of the yearbook, it has been determined by the district administrative staff that only school sponsored activities are the responsibility of the district and should be included in this type of publication. There have been multiple issues buildings have dealt with regarding the process of obtaining pictures for outside agencies. The event of getting a whole school through non-school activity pictures has taken students away from critical learning time.
The elementary yearbooks should showcase activities that take place through the school setting. We welcome and encourage pictures of activities that include all students participating in classroom or building-wide events throughout the school year.”
Fun Day was discussed. Leslie Beckrich said she would help with this event. Past “Expert” Fun Day organizers, Mary Hanson and Terri Schultz will be contacted to see if they will help with this event.
Board members were nominated and elected in office for the 08-09 school year. Members are as follows:
Chairperson: Leslie Beckrich
Secretary: Karen Bissonette
Treasurer: Jessie Karnes & Mrs. Brown
Board members: Above officers, Mrs. Iaizzo (teacher rep.) and Principal Patti Anderson
Jessie Karnes motioned to adjourn meeting, Mr. Mann seconded the motion.
Meeting adjourned at 4:30.
Respectfully submitted by Jessie Karnes and Patti Anderson
