FINANCIAL AID OUTLINE

1.  All need-based financial aid starts with the filing of the FAFSA  (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

      * These forms will be available after January 1 on the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov or from the high school counseling office.

      * To speed processing, you should do your FAFSA on line and sign it with an electronic signature.  To get a PIN, request one at www.pin.ed.gov.  Student and parent will each need their own PIN.  You will need to supply your name, Social Security Number, date of birth, and mailing address when you apply.

       * Do your taxes early as the data will be needed to fill out the FAFSA.  (You do not need to file until the usual date)

2.  All seniors should have received the black folder with a GRHS Senior Handbook and Financial Aid information.  Parents should review this information also.

3.   Athletes planning to compete at the Division I or Division II level should file with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

4.   Financial Aid Super Sunday will be held in midwinter at Davies Theater on the ICC Campus.  This is a seminar for all students needing information on financial aid, no matter what college or post secondary institution they plan to attend.

5.   A college will not put a financial aid package together until the student has been admitted.  Step 1 therefore is to apply!  Complete the application as far as possible, staple the check to the form, and submit to the Counseling Office with a transcript request.  We will send it directly from our office.

6.   Scholarship information is posted on the daily announcements as it comes in.  The Common Application for community scholarships will be distributed in January to seniors.  Refer to the Senior Handbook for more information.

We are here to help  you!
