The meeting began with parent and teacher introductions. 

Heather Ritter made a plea to parents and teachers for new PTC officers to step forward for next year.  We will have 2 openings, Chair and Secretary.  Paula Troumbly agreed to remain as Treasurer.  

Paula Troumbly, treasurer, distributed an updated 2007-2008 PTC budget.  Our 990 tax preparation and registration fees were $695.  We do not know if we will have additional back taxes.  We discussed budget cuts for next year, however, since our student body will be decreasing by 3 classrooms, approx. 85 students, we might be ok.  The teachers have some ideas, and this will be discussed again in the spring with the new board. 

Kathy Fauth reported that the yearbook has been completed, and we are patiently waiting for proofs.  Thanks to the following parents that volunteered their time and talents: Lynette How,  Deb Baker, Kari Borgman, Natalya Helvie, Aimee Love, Darci McKay, Jennifer Stefan, and Deb Taylor. 

Mr. Decoster gave the principal's report.  The 5th grade transfer to the middle school is progressing.  Letters have gone out to parents, and there are discussions on an open house both in the spring and fall.  If parents have questions or concerns, you are encouraged to contact Mr. Decoster. 

Events:

Winter Fest had rave reviews from teachers and students.  A big thank you to Paula Johnson and Julie Rasmussen for their excellent planning!   

We discussed and agreed to try a new company for the 2008 fall fundraiser.  They are a local (St. Cloud) company called “The Chip Shoppe” and sound like their service will be much better and their products are good.  In addition, they have done a great job with the Hibbing school district.  Heather will have the information to pass along to the new board chair.    

Upcoming:

The Spring Book Fair will be April 7-11.  A new “hot” product, “Y-ties” will be sold along with the books this year.  The kids will be introduced to this product at the next RIF day on April 4th.  The Y-ties will be sold for $4 each, and our school will receive $2 for each one sold. 

Pizza night is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th. 

Grandparents Day is scheduled for April 11.  The teachers will meet next week to discuss scheduling.  Let your grandparents know and specific details will be sent out soon. 

Spring Fun Day is scheduled for May 28.  Kari Borgman (327-9590) will chair this event, and she’s looking for interested parents to help plan and work at this FUN event! 

The next PTC meeting will be Fall 2008!
