Language Arts

ISD 318 Language Arts curriculum is being updated during the summer of 2007 so students, parents and  staff have a complete understanding of the topics covered at each grade level, skills and processes students will be learning and performing and also performance assessments to determine student success.  Because teachers continue to be trained in balanced literacy, the language arts program is a work in progress constantly raising the bar for teachers and students.  The revision should be complete by August 2007.  The new adoption and the implementation of Balanced Literacy have made it necessary to revise the maps in Grades K-6.  Grades 7 and 8 will also realign their scope and sequence, and are meeting to articulate responsibilities.  Grades 9-12 Language Arts has also seen some changes; they've added new titles to their novels.

Grade K - 6 curriculum maps linked to this site are the work of Rochester Public Schools.  At this time, we are using these as a guide.  We will be developing our own maps to be completed by August 2007.
