Independent School District 318 is located in Itasca County, Minnesota and is the largest provider of public education in the county. We are a very unique learning community encompassing over 2000 square miles. Our district provides educational opportunities for approximately 4000 students at 14 learning sites.

HIGHLIGHTING COHASSET ELEMENTARY

Cohasset Highlights Science & Minnesota Nice Students at Cohasset Elementary School have found exciting ways to integrate the Minnesota State Science Standards, and demonstrate what "Minnesota Nice" truly means. As a part of their School Outreach Assembly Programs, the Science Museum of Minnesota was recently at Cohasset. The School Outreach Assembly programs are aligned and correlated to state and national standards/benchmarks. They are specifically designed with our students' educational needs in mind and in support of our efforts to encourage their exploration of the scientific world around them. Cohasset 4th graders will also become immersed in the wonder of science on an overnight camp-in at the Minnesota Science Museum. Individual classrooms also continue to participated in Science themed events that included school family volunteers. The month of February was Random Acts of Kindness in Cohasset and Cohasset students were able to express their appreciation to a couple Cohasset Helpers as well as starting their "Operation Minnesota Nice". Students gathered in the Gym to thank the City of Cohasset for their help throughout the year (and years). Cohasset students also started writing their letters and preparing packages for 11 US Servicemen from Minnesota who are stationed in Afghanistan.
