will not matter what your bank account was, the sort of house you lived in,
or the kind of car you drove, but the world may be different because you were
important in the life of a child.

District 318 Endowment Fund
The District 318 Endowment Fund was very fortunate in securing a matching
grant from the Blandin Foundation. At the present time, this matching grant
has ended. Each year the trustees hold a Fundraiser Dinner. The main
purpose is to raise funds but we also use this opportunity to make the
community aware of the Endowment Fund and to celebrate the Grants that were
awarded during the school year. Our Annual Spring Fundraiser last year was
again a huge success. The attendance was a bit lower than expected, but
people who attended had a great time and supported our Fund through their
attendance and their donation to the Silent and Live Auction items. Along
with the dinner last year, we co-sponsor a Reif Center Concert and also
promote a program which is called Legacy of Greatness. This program is for
parents and friends of graduating seniors to recognize them by a financial
contribution to our Endowment Fund.
This last July, we received very good news from the Grand Rapids Area
Community Foundation where our funds are invested. As of June 30th, 2007 our
fund has grown to $604.000. From area residents who support our events and a
satisfactory investment climate, our fund grew by almost $70,000 during this
last fiscal year.
The sole purpose and reason for having the Endowment Fund is to help our kids
have a great educational opportunity.
