FOREST
LAKE ELEMENTARY
POLICIES
& PROCEDURES
1. Our starting and dismissal times are as follows:
Start: 8:30 A.M. Dismissal: 3:00 P.M.
Walkers should arrive at
school at 8:15 A.M. They should hang their backpacks outside of their classroom and go outside, weather permitting.
Bus students and students dropped off
arriving at school before 8:00 A.M. should hang their backpacks outside
of their classroom, and go to the cafeteria. At 8:00, students are allowed to go
outside to their designated playground area. Students should not arrive
before 7:45 A.M., as there is no supervision.
The north and south end doors will be locked until 7:40 A.M.
All doors, except the front door, will then be re-locked from 8:30 A.M. to
2:40 P.M. for security purposes.
2. Bus students need written permission from their parent if they are
not returning home on the bus. Otherwise, they will be sent home on the bus.
For all students’ safety, anyone being picked up after school by someone
other than a parent or guardian must have written permission from a parent.
3. Changes to your child’s “normal” after-school routine require a
note to their teacher. Please discuss after-school arrangements with your
child before they leave for school in the morning. A call to the office
should be made before 1:30 P.M. when plans have changed during the day.
4. Absences: Please call the office by 9:30 A.M. each day your child
is absent.
5. If your child is picked up early from school, there is a sign-out
sheet in the office window to record the time, person picking up your child,
and reason your child left early (i.e. dentist appointment, sick, etc.).
Please try to schedule appointments after school whenever possible.
6.
If your child arrives to school after 8:30 A.M., he/she must be
signed in at the office by an adult. To ensure accurate lunch counts, please
inform the secretary if your child plans to eat hot lunch that day.
7.
When sending money to school, please put it in an envelope with
your child’s name, grade, amount of money, and purpose written on the
outside. This eliminates confusion, and if the envelope is lost, the owner
can easily be found.
8. All visitors will be asked to sign in and out at the office. For
security purposes, the secretary will provide a name tag for you to wear
throughout the building. Please remember to sign out upon leaving the
school. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
9. Volunteers working in classrooms are also asked to sign-in at the
office in our “Volunteer Book”. The secretary will provide a name tag for
you, to recognize our wonderful volunteers!!!
10. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in
school.
11. Dress code: Students are expected to dress appropriately for
school and learning. No short shorts, midriff shirts (stomach area exposed),
spaghetti strap tops, or flip-flops. Gym shoes are required for Phy. Ed. and
recess.
12. Student Emergency Cards should be kept current. Please inform the
office of any changes to your address, phone numbers (home, cell, and work),
place of employment, and emergency contact persons. This is critical in the
event we need to contact a parent or guardian immediately.
13. Lost & Found items are hung on the rack across from the
downstairs gym. Please check this frequently for items that may belong to
your child.
14. A lunch money deposit box is located on the door to the kitchen.
Please put your payment in an envelope labeled with your child’s name,
teacher, and family lunch number.
15. Classroom treats brought to school to share with other students
in the classroom should be store-bought and in their original container. No
“homemade” treats, please. |
