MURPHY SCHOOL DISCIPLINE PLAN
Dear Parents,
As partners in your child's development to become respectful and responsible citizens, our
Murphy School Discipline Plan has been designed to help guide our students to achieve this goal.
GENERAL SCHOOL GUIDELINES LUNCHROOM GUIDELINES
1. Respect other people and property 1. Use proper table manners at all times.
2. Keep yourself and others safe 2. Keep lunchroom neat and clean.
3. Listen to and follow directions 3. Use QUIET voices.
4. Be prepared 4. Always walk.
SPECIAL PLAYGROUND SAFETY GUIDELINES
1. When the bell rings, line up properly, and enter the school quietly.
2. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
3. Use playground equipment properly. Some examples are: A. ONE student to a swing.
B. No jumping off a swing.
C. Only slide down slides.
4. Students must be prepared and dressed appropriately to spend the entire recess period outside.
5. Tell a Peer Mediator if you need help solving a problem with another student.
6. Tell an adult about: *any injuries.
*unsafe playground conditions.
*unsafe behavior of other students.
7. Special safety rules will be necessary due to seasonal changes. (Ex: Snowballs are not allowed)
CONSEQUENCES
Note: Pre-intervention(s) will be used prior to a ticket.
(Ex: Reminders about appropriate behavior, time-outs, Peer Mediation, etc..)
1st TICKET and 2nd TICKET
Detention* during noon time, Plan for Change worksheet, copy of ticket, and Letter of Apology (if appropriate). Child/parent will discuss, complete, sign, and return Plan for Change worksheet.
3rd TICKET
Detention* during noon time, Plan for Change worksheet, copy of ticket, and Letter of Apology (if appropriate), Letter or phone call to parents by student (if appropriate).
Child/parent will discuss, complete, sign, and return Plan for Change worksheet.
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be contacted to meet with teacher and principal.
**EXCEPTIONS to the above: Our district has a zero-tolerance policy for violence; therefore, any intentional behaviors that would or could cause harm to others will result in immediate 1-5 day(s) detention, and further consequences may result.
(Examples are, but not limited to: fighting, inappropriate language and gestures, threatening, and harassing.)
LENGTH OF TIME: Quarterly: Each report period will start with a new slate, including children with prior violations.
